Hi, David
I think I need to narrow down the definition of multimedia in asking questions to Korean photographers and editors because my professional project would combine photographs and audio. Therefore, the definition of multimedia HERE would be those made from both photographs and audio. Almost all of multimedia Chosun Ilbo has produced are video pieces.
what do you think?
and, I'm wondering how I can examine hypothesis I have formed with 'case study' I will conduct because my research compoent investigating multimedia in Chosun Ilbo doesn't seem to say about both 'local residents' and ' female'.
('local residents' means here people living not in Seoul, where most of the main industries and institutions have been centralized.)
Do I, maybe, ask how 'local residents' and 'female' have been portraited in Korean multimedia to the Chosun Ilbo's photographers?
Please check my blog to see some progress.

I'm still waiting for responses from both photographers and editors of Chosun Ilbo.
The following is the possible questions I could ask to photographers and editors.
If you have any I need to add up, let me know.
thank you,
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After identifying multimedia in Chosun Ilbo, I realize almost all of them are based on 'events'. Is there any reason that they are all 'event-based'?
In the specific multimedia I found, music is on. What does the music mean in the multimedia?
- who decide to use it?
- how much importantly does audio work in multimedia when you create them?
why were some people's faces pixelated? Is there any reason to hide their idenity?
why did the word "서울역사내 야간 노숙 전면 금지" appear on the pictures?
(The korean word mean 'staying overnight inside of Seoul Station is banned')
There many similar picketing shots which would deliver a repeated message, at least for me. What does that mean?( did you edit it intentionally?)
why the multimedia is created in this time? (is it because crackdown to homeless just started?)
Is there any effort to create multimedia associated with news article?
for instance, news article about poverty could accompany multimedia work of poverty in Chousn Ilbo?
who shoot and edit multimedia?
- prior to shoot, do you decide that you use photographs for multimedia?
- IF you make multimedia by yourself, what's an important part you consider when you edit?(sequences, audio, interview, story. etc)
-----------------------------
For a photo editor,
How do you decide when multimedia is needed to be made?
In general, when it comes to create multimedia, what circumstances do your photo department have?
- Did you train your photographers for multimedia?
- How do your staff photographers think about multimedia? (do they like to make them?)
- Do you provide enough time producing multimedia to staff?
- Does your company encourage you to produce them?
How much responses do you obtain from readers if any?
- IF they don't have, why does it happen?
What are the most challenges you or staff photographers have for multimedia?
(BOTH in the interal reasons, for instance, hypothetically not enough motivation to produce multimedia in your company and, in the external resons, for instance, hypothetically Korean readers who have a not enough interest in multimedia)
IF there are both interal reasons and external reasons, what causes you think to lead?
IF any, is there any way or effort to boost to multimedia? and how?
(more long-term projects, etc)
What do you have in mind about producing multimedia overall in Korean media?
(what is your general opionion of producing multimedia in Korean media including other companies?)
